Why it works

Experienced, Strategic, and Built for Rare Disease Communities

Rare disease foundations move fast. You are raising critical funds, supporting families, and advancing research all at once. The Rare Impact 6-Month Fundraising Accelerator gives you a seasoned fundraising and communications team that understands your mission deeply and brings the strategy, creativity, and execution to match your ambitions.

Shannon Bowen and the Rare Impact team carry 40+ years of collective experience in the rare disease space. In six months together, we formalize your development program, produce tons of high-quality content and campaigns, and build the systems your organization can grow on for years to come.

Core Elements of Accelerator

Program components to transform and turbocharge your fundraising.

Meet each week with Founder & CEO Shannon Bowen to strategize, train, co-create, and problem-solve. These sessions are a mix of planning, training, co-creating, and executive coaching—and for teams of one, they provide the support, camaraderie, and guidance to lead a strong development program with confidence.

From month one, our team is working on your most urgent projects while building the long-term strategy alongside you. We plan, design, write, and deliver every month's deliverables on time and at the highest level of quality, always with your full year of goals in view.

Shannon creates high-impact, personal messages in your leader's voice to build donor trust and inspire giving. You will also receive a custom Ghostwriting Guide with ChatGPT prompts so your CEO can write quickly and consistently long after the Fundraising Accelerator ends.

Every deliverable we produce is beautifully designed to reflect the credibility and heart of your organization. From social media posts and impact reports to corporate sponsorship brochures, peer-to-peer campaign templates, and more—your collateral will look as compelling as the mission it represents.

Burning question between sessions? We are there. Collaborate through Google Docs, Canva, and shared folders so nothing slows you down. Our team is responsive and invested in your progress every week.

How it works

Our Six Months Together

Program components to transform and turbocharge your fundraising.

We begin with an in-depth intake process to learn your organization inside and out: your donors, data, history, brand, goals, and your most urgent needs. At the same time, we begin executing on your priority projects. You do not wait for the intake to finish before real work begins. Deliverables start in Month 1.

Shannon and the team build your 12-Month Development Plan and Timeline, map your full project calendar, and align on the priorities that will create the most momentum for your fundraising program. Project execution continues in parallel.

With strategy firmly in place, we move deeper into active project delivery. Your Ghostwriting Guide, Fundraising Playbook, and campaign deliverables take shape. Weekly sessions keep strategy and execution moving in lockstep.

This is where the impact compounds. Campaigns launch, donor communications go out, and your development program gains real traction. We continue producing high-quality deliverables while coaching your team on sophisticated fundraising practices.

Your development program is formalized, your communications are compelling, and your team has the systems, tools, and confidence to sustain growth. After this month, clients either transition to an Advising Retainer* for ongoing support, continue with a Full-Service Retainer for another 6-months and then transition**, or go on to hire full-time development staff. We can help with that too!

* The Advising Retainer is available exclusively to former 6-Month Fundraising Accelerator clients.

** If you want to sign up for one-year of a Full-Service Retainer, we offer a discounted rate.

No. Starting Month 1, we begin executing on your most urgent projects at the same time as our intake process. You’ll receive real deliverables right away.

Meaningful momentum takes time. Six months allows us to learn your community, formalize your program, execute multiple high-impact projects, and set you up for long-term growth.

Most Fundraising Accelerator clients transition to an Advising Retainer for ongoing strategic support with discreet projects throughout the year. Others hire full-time development staff, which we can assist with as well. And some continue on with a Full-Service Retainer for another six months and then transition. We offer discounted rates if you want to sign up for one-year of full-service support and lock in your spot with our team.

We are expanding the Fundraising Accelerator to include even more resources and exclusive training for clients. Foundations that start now lock in the current rate before the expansion of services.
